What a handyman can and can't do in Ireland

The jobs a handyman can legally and safely do in Ireland, and the electrical, gas and structural work that needs a registered professional.

Jobs a handyman is ideal for

Hanging shelves, mirrors, pictures, TVs and curtain poles.

Flat-pack furniture assembly.

Re-sealing baths, showers and sinks.

Fixing doors, handles, hinges, gates and latches.

Small repairs and odd jobs that pile up around the house.

Jobs that need a registered professional

Electrical work beyond simple like-for-like changes needs a Safe Electric registered contractor.

Any gas work must be done by an RGII registered gas installer.

Structural changes need a builder and, often, an engineer.

How we handle it

If part of your job needs a registered trade, we'll tell you upfront rather than attempt it. You'll still get the rest of the list done in one visit.
